Founded in 2006, Moreland Capital Group (Moreland) is a hedge fund manager based in Portland, Oregon. In 2005, the firm’s equity analysts began several years of research into creating and managing equity strategies focusing on BETA-adjusted return (Smart BETA). Its goal is to provide an alternative solution for long only equity vehicles such as mutual funds, index funds, sector funds, and ETFs (exchange-traded funds); to create a wide range of innovative strategies for accredited clients such as high net-worth individuals, institutions, and organizations. Moreland focuses on deep value investing through refined qualitative analysis and 21st-century custom and unique quantitative algorithms using risk management strategies that were stress-tested during the 2008/2009 market declines.
