Mobile Internet Capital

Mobile Internet Capital (MIC) is a Tokyo-based venture capital firm targeting the IT and ICT sectors primarily in Japan. MIC focuses on startups with a unique business model and high growth potential that utilize technologies such as mobile, internet, cloud, and software. It remains sector-agnostic, targeting a wide array of industries including renewable energy as well as healthcare, but does not invest in biotechnology or drug discovery startups. MIC invests predominantly in the domestic market but considers deals globally especially in the US, China, Europe, and Southeast Asia on a case-by-case basis. With no mandate for a specific investment stage, it provides funding to venture companies across various stages of development. MIC was established by three major shareholders, including NTT DOCOMO, Internet Research Institute (IRI), and Mizuho Securities. In December 2021, BroadBand Tower acquired the 30% shares owned by IRI and became a major shareholder along with NTT DOCOMO and Mizuho Securities.
