MFB Invest is the venture capital arm of the state-run Hungarian Development Bank. The firm invests in fast growing, innovative companies and in special cases start-up companies as well. MFB targets Hungary-based companies in the fields of IT, electronics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, biotechnology, food, transportation, logistics, environmental protection & services, healthcare, and engineering. The firm also considers other countries in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2008, MFB Invest jointly established ELAN SBI Capital Partners Fund Management with Singapore-based SBI Ven Capital to manage SBI European Fund. This investment fund was jointly set up by Japan-based SBI Holdings and Hungary-based MFB Invest, with SBI Holdings taking 60% stake in the fund and MFB Invest another 40%.
