Astra Investimentos is a São Paulo, Brazil-based alternative investment firm established in 2005 that manages investment strategies across six asset classes: private equity, agribusiness, infrastructure, real estate, structured credit, and public equities. The firm's private equity arm makes investments across a variety of industry sectors, with strategies including growth, buyout, natural resources, public to private, and rescue financing. Astra invests in core infrastructure assets across several sectors. Cash flows of the underlying assets must provide stability, transparency, and structural characteristics which can be monitored and that will build value. When making an investment, the firm analyses the risk and return profile looking beyond the simple physical characteristics. Investments are made at the holding company level where operating assets generate cash flow and greenfield assets provide the upside.
