A round-up of the latest private markets people moves globally

Limited partners

  • AustralianSuper, Australia’s largest pension fund, has promoted Shaun Manuell to Chief Investment Officer. Manuell led the pension fund’s equities team for 13 years and will assume the CIO role on July 1, becoming the second CIO in the fund’s history. He succeeds Mark Delaney, who is retiring after two decades in the role.

  • The Pittsburgh Foundation has appointed William Generett Jr. as President and CEO following a five-month search. Generett has served on the board since 2018, most recently as Vice Chair. He joins from Duquesne University where he was Senior Vice President for Civic Engagement and External Relations. He succeeds Lisa Schroeder, who retired earlier this year after seven years at the helm.

  • Fiduciary Trust Company, a Boston-based private wealth management firm, has hired Frank Brochin as Chief Investment Officer. Brochin was previously CIO of the family office practice at Focus Partners Wealth where he oversaw global multi-asset strategies for ultra-high-net-worth families. He’s also held CIO roles at Berens Capital Management and StoneWater Capital.

  • Foster Denovo, a UK-based financial planning and wealth management firm, has promoted Chris Thomas to Director of Investments. He previously served as Head of Investments.

  • Life insurer and asset manager Manulife has promoted Wilton Kee to CEO of its Hong Kong and Macau unit, succeeding Patrick Graham on July 1. Kee joined Manulife Hong Kong in 2013 and held a series of senior roles, including Chief Product Officer and Head of Health, before becoming Chief Financial Officer in 2022. Earlier this year, he took on deputy CEO duties.

  • TritonPoint Partners, a Maryland-based independent wealth advisory firm, has hired Richard Sichel and Robert Sichel to expand the firm’s presence in the Philadelphia area. Richard Sichel joins from The Philadelphia Trust Company, where he was Executive Vice President and Senior Investment Strategist. His son, Robert, was previously a Partner and Head of the Fiduciary Practice at K&L Gates.


General partners

  • KKR, a US-based private markets firm, has announced plans to open a new office in Milan, expanding its presence in Italy’s private markets. The office will be led by Marco Fontana, a Partner in KKR’s Infrastructure team, who will relocate from London. Nicolò Della Casa, a Director in its Private Equity team, will also relocate to Milan to lead the firm’s private equity activities in Italy.

  • LGT Capital Partners, a Switzerland-based alternative asset manager, has rehired Marco Bizzozero as a Managing Partner and member of the executive committee. Bizzozero will join from fintech platform iCapital in September, where he is Head of International Operations and has been a member of the executive committee for the past five years. He previously served as CEO of UniCredit Group’s wealth management unit, and as CEO of Deutsche Bank (Switzerland) and Head of Wealth Management EMEA. Bizzozero began his career at LGT in the early 2000s as part of the firm’s private equity team.

  • Maven Capital Partners, a UK-based private equity and VC firm, has hired Katie Bohill and Niall Choat as Investment Managers in its Newcastle office, focusing on deal origination and execution. Bohill joins from EY’s audit practice and previously worked for CPI in research and development. Choat was formerly a Corporate Finance Manager at FRP Advisory.

  • Oakley Capital, a UK-based private equity fund manager, has appointed Christian Horner as an advisor on sports investments. He was CEO and Team Principal of Red Bull Formula One for over 20 years, winning six World Constructors' Championship titles.

  • Omni Partners, a London-based lower mid-market private equity firm, has hired Roald Hunvik as a Partner to lead its Nordic investment strategy. Based in Oslo, Hunvik is Omni’s first senior hire outside the UK, joining from Nordic B2B software investor Monterro. Earlier in his career, he spent 13 years at Norwegian M&A advisory firm Alpha Corporate Finance.

Legal 

  • Debevoise & Plimpton has named nine new Partners across its private funds and finance groups. In London, they include Fatema Al-Arayedh, Tom Berry, Jake Grandison, and Felix Paterson. In New York, Megan Arrogante, Samuel Krawiecz, Matthew Parelman, Anne-Lise Quach, and Sergio Torres have been promoted. Dominique Trudelle has been promoted to Partner in San Francisco.

  • Charles Russell Speechlys has appointed Nadim Meer as a Partner in its Corporate team in London. His practice encompasses advising founders and management teams on buyouts and growth capital investments, and corporate clients on M&A, fundraisings, and joint ventures. He joins from Mishcon de Reya, where he was a Corporate Partner and Head of Private Equity.

  • DLA Piper has hired Michael Dorf as a Partner in its San Francisco M&A team. His industry focus spans sectors such as semiconductors, software, and biotechnology. He joins from A&O Shearman, where he was an M&A Partner. He previously held Partner roles at O'Melveny & Myers and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

  • Dentons has appointed Diarmuid Mawe as a Partner in its Dublin real estate practice. He joins from Maples Group, where he headed up the Dublin commercial property team. His practice focuses on property acquisitions and developments across retail, logistics, offices, and residential sectors. Dentons has also appointed Sunil Joneja, Alexandra Fox, and Scott McLeman as Senior Partners in its banking and finance practice based in Calgary, Canada. Joneja and McLeman join from Cassels Brock & Blackwell, while Fox joins from Carey Olsen.

  • Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has re-hired Neil Devaney, Lois Deasey, and Matt Benson from Weil, Gotshal & Manges as Partners in its London office. Devaney will lead Akin’s London restructuring team, having previously co-headed Weil’s restructuring practice in the capital.

Administrator

  • Corporate services firm Hawksford has promoted three senior professionals to Director across its international offices. Edward McFadyen becomes a Director in the Fund Services division in Jersey, where he will lead expansion across EMEA. Sally-Ann Tinkler has been promoted to Director of Accounting and Tax in Singapore, focusing on client relationships and business development in Asia. In Ireland, Jenny Monaghan has been promoted in private client services, where she will oversee fiduciary services.

Tech platform

  • Broadridge Financial Solutions, a US-based fintech and data solutions provider, has appointed Richard Terblanche as Vice President of Global Distribution Data Solutions, a newly created role based in London. He previously held senior roles at Strategic Insight, an industry research firm, and led the EMEA business at data consultancy and analytics firm Fishtank Solutions.

  • Moonfare, a Berlin-based private markets investment platform, has hired Chris Maule as head of its UK business. Based in London, Maule will be responsible for accelerating Moonfare’s growth among private clients and family offices in the UK. He most recently spent six years at Connection Capital, leading the firm’s private client and family office distribution strategy.
