A round-up of last week’s people moves at firms providing services to the alternative assets industry

Legal

  • Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer has hired Todd Boudreau as a Partner in the Corporate & Finance practice. He will be based in Boston and focus on advising clients on M&A and investments across industrial sectors including aerospace and defense, consumer products, health services, life sciences, medical devices, and technology. He was previously a Founding Partner at ACL Capital Partners and before that, Partner and Co-Chair of the Private Equity Investments and Buyouts Group at Morrison & Foerster.

  • Baker McKenzie has appointed Carlo De Vito Piscicelli as Partner and Head of Banking & Finance for Italy. He previously led the Italian debt finance practice at Cleary Gottlieb. In Munich, Dirk Horcher joins as a Partner in the M&A practice, where he advises clients in the energy and infrastructure, automotive, industrials, and technology sectors. He spent 18 years at Linklaters, where he was a Partner.

  • Cahill Gordon & Reindel has hired Dan Amato as a Partner in its Private Credit Practice in New York. He focuses on guiding private credit funds and alternative lenders through acquisitions and leveraged financings. He joins from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where he was a Partner and Head of Sponsor Finance.

  • Clifford Chance has promoted Sabra Ferhat to Counsel in its Antitrust Group. In addition to her promotion, she has moved from London to Dubai. She advises clients on international antitrust issues across technology, telecoms, energy, consumer goods, insurance, and banking sectors. Om Pandya has joined as a Capital Markets partner in Houston. He specializes in M&A across the energy and infrastructure sector and spent the past nine years at Latham & Watkins.

  • Collas Crill Trust has appointed Greta Pender as a Director. Based in Guernsey, she works with ultra-high-net-worth individuals on inter-generational wealth planning and asset protection needs. She was previously a Client Service Director at wealth planning and administration firm Sequent Group.

  • Cooley has hired three Partners in its Emerging Companies and Venture Capital (ECVC) Practice in London. Angus Miln joins from Taylor Wessing, where he was head of the ECVC practice. Ali Ramadan was previously a Corporate Technology Partner at Goodwin, and Helen Pantelides was a Partner at White & Case.

  • Dentons has promoted Roberto Lipari to Head of the Europe Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, based in Rome. He will be responsible for the strategy, leadership, and management of the practice across 18 countries in Continental Europe and Central Asia. He has been a Partner at the firm since 2019.

    In Germany, Dr. Kerstin Henrich and Dr. Sebastian Helmes have joined as Energy Partners in Dusseldorf and Berlin, respectively, with both joining from EY Law. In Dublin, Garrett Hayes and Louise Hodnett have joined as Partners from McDermott Will & Emery and Baker McKenzie, respectively. Finally, in Seoul, Dentons Lee has appointed Eunjee Kim as an Attorney in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group. She joins from Bae, Kim & Lee.

  • DLA Piper has promoted Bryan Connolly to Co-Chair of its US Real Estate Practice. He focuses on acquisitions, financing, joint ventures, land use, and complex development projects, and joined the firm in 2003. In London, Simon Persoff has rejoined as a Partner in the global Data Protection, Privacy, and Cybersecurity practice from Clifford Chance, where he was Partner and Co-Head of the UK Data Protection and Cybersecurity practice. Elizabeth Bradley has joined the Finance Practice group in Dublin from Maples Group Dublin, where she was a Partner in the Banking and Finance team for more than 10 years.

  • Kevin Yingling has joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a Partner in its Antitrust practice, based in Washington D.C. He will focus on competition law including merger control and antitrust investigations.

  • Holland & Knight has hired Jose Tadeo Martinez as a Partner in its Washington D.C. office. His practice includes structured and corporate finance, financial product design, and impact investing. He was previously Lead Counsel at the Inter-American Development Bank.

  • Latham & Watkins has recruited Simon Skinner as a Tax Partner in its London office. He advises clients on corporate tax and tax planning matters. He joins from Travers Smith, where he was Partner and Head of Tax

  • Linklaters has hired Joanna Addison as Global Sector Lead for Energy Transition. She joins from Shell in Qatar, where she was Head of Legal. She will be based in London but will have a global focus.

  • Nixon Peabody has appointed Lisa Perri as Counsel in its Corporate practice. She will be based in New York, focusing on middle-market M&A and private equity transactions. She was previously an Associate at Dechert.

  • Simpson Thacher & Bartlett has promoted Julia Kohen and Jennifer Levitt to Co-Heads of the Fund Finance Practice, succeeding Mary Touchstone. Kohen represents financial sponsors in subscription credit facilities and NAV financings, while Levitt advises financial sponsors on debt financings across private market funds. They were both previously Partners at the firm.

  • Troutman Pepper has appointed Nanette Heide as a Partner in the Corporate practice, based in New York. She will represent private equity investors and multinational and domestic corporations in M&A and corporate finance transactions and was previously Global Co-Chair of the Private Equity division at Duane Morris.

  • Nicola Noël has joined Weil, Gotshal & Manges as a Partner in the Finance practice. She specializes in private credit, broadly syndicated loan and bond products, junior debt, and preferred capital instruments, and will be based in the London office. Noël was previously a Senior Legal Director at Canadian pension fund PSP Investments, where she established the European credit legal team, and has also worked at Goldman Sachs.

  • White & Case has rehired Majed Alkuraydis as a Riyadh-based Partner in the Global Capital Markets Practice and Global Financial Institutions Industry Group. He was previously General Counsel at the Al-Faisaliah Group, a Saudi-based conglomerate, having worked at White & Case from 2013–2019.

Advisory

  • Paris-based Ekimetrics, a data science and AI consultancy, has appointed Christina Cen as General Manager, China in Shanghai. She was previously Co-founder & President of Coldlake Tech, and also led strategy and innovation at McDonald’s and Cargill, as well as serving as the APAC Clients & Industries Chief Operating Officer at Deloitte Asia Pacific.

  • Boston-based G2 Capital Advisors has hired John Engstrom, Michael Flynn, and Morgan Ley as Managing Directors. Engstrom was previously a Senior Partner with Venture 53, and Flynn was Managing Director, Corporate Finance and M&A, at Capital One Securities. Ley joins from Canaccord Genuity, where he served as a Managing Director in the US Investment Banking division.

  • UBS has acquired Maryland-based Wingman Capitol Group. The advisory firm, which is a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley, manages $650mn in client assets and is led by Financial Advisors Andy Murphy, Gene Suk, and Terence Hardy.

Placement agent

  • London-based Rede Partners has promoted James Varela and Charles Wan to Partner. Valera was formerly Head of Middle East, while Wan was Head of Asia. The firm also announced three new hires: Mark Ager joins as Head of Technology from Livingbridge; Adele Gilmore joins the Advisory team as a Principal from Aviditi Advisors; and Ben Plant also joins as a Principal from Lazard’s Financial Sponsors Advisory team.

Platform

  • CRM and deal sourcing management platform Affinity has appointed Adam Goldman as CFO. He was previously CFO at Codeacademy before the company was sold to Skillsoft, where he was an SVP and General Manager.

  • JMAN Group, a private markets data analysis provider, has appointed Natalie Cramp as Partner and member of the Senior Leadership team. She was previously CEO of Profusion, a data and AI consulting firm.

  • The Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA), a credit rating agency has hired Scott Duggal as a Senior Director. He was most recently ABS Portfolio Manager and Head of European Consumer ABS, RMBS, and CLO research at abdrn. John Sage has joined as a Senior Director, leading the private credit research team. He was previously a journalist at Bloomberg, where he covered the private credit industry. Min Xu has joined the Funds team as a Managing Director from Natixis, where she was the Credit Risk Officer responsible for approving CLO/ABS warehouse financing and capital call facilities.

  • Shawn Ko has joined private markets technology platform S64 as Head of South Korea. Following the close of the platform’s series A fundraising round in August, Tarun Nagpal, CEO of S64, told Preqin News: ‘It’s absolutely critical that we have invested very heavily on the ground in APAC.’ Ko joins from Zenithar, an investment sourcing company, where he was Head of Asia Pacific, and before that he worked at Deutsche Bank in Seoul.

  • Nashville-based Wealth Access, a provider of wealth data for banks and digital services, has hired Drew DiMarino as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). He joins from SingleOps, where he was President and CRO, and was previously Chief Growth Officer at Riskalyze.

Association

  • The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) has appointed Nick Pollard as Managing Director of Asia Pacific. He was previously Managing Director for the APAC region at the CRA Institute, and before that, was a Managing Director at Coutts.

Investment bank

  • Investment bank Ducera has hired John Vaske as Partner and Vice Chairman in the Mergers and Acquisitions practice. He was previously a Senior Managing Partner at Temasek until November last year, and spent over 28 years at Goldman Sachs, holding senior roles including Global Co-Head of Natural Resources Group and Head of European Natural Resources.
