January 15, 2024 (Preqin News) – A round-up of last week’s people moves at firms providing services to the alternative assets industry:

Advisory and consulting

  • Bain & Company has elected Christophe De Vusser as the firm’s new Worldwide Managing Partner (Chief Executive Officer). De Vusser, who succeeds Manny Maceda, joined the firm in 2000. He has led Bain’s European and global private equity and financial investor client business since 2018 – the same year he joined the firm’s Board of Directors. Prior to Bain, he worked for Procter & Gamble.

  • Financial risk management advisory and technology firm Chatham Financial has appointed Michael Young as Chief Product and Technology Officer. Young will be based in New York where the firm has opened a new office. Before joining Chatham, he was Chief Technology Officer at Reuters.

  • Investment consultancy Focus Consulting Group has appointed two new consultants, Paul Zemsky and Rhonda Hopps. Zemsky was formerly Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Voya Investment Management’s Multi Asset Strategies and Solutions team. He has also held senior roles and board positions with Voya, Pomona Capital, and JP Morgan. Hopps has held chief executive, board, and advisory roles.

  • New York-based regulatory consultant Iron Road Partners has appointed Noah Levine as Director. Levine joins from Angelo Gordon, where he was a Managing Director and Senior Compliance Counsel, responsible for real estate private equity, net lease, and direct lending business lines. He was previously a compliance officer at Two Sigma Investments and Dune Real Estate Partners.

    At the same time, Paul McGowan has been promoted to Partner, overseeing the firm's regulatory compliance services. Prior to joining Iron Road, he spent two decades at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), most recently in a Senior Examiner role in the Private Funds unit.

  • Institutional investment consulting firm Callan has announced the appointment of Sarie Diloné to the firm’s Alternatives Consulting group as a Vice President. She was most recently the head of US private equity at Nomura Fiduciary Research and Consulting, and the head of trading and macro strategy research at Guggenheim Partners. Diloné will be based in Summit, New Jersey.

  • Strategy consulting firm Stax has announced the appointment of Amy Helenbrook as Managing Director in its Value Creation practice. Based in Chicago, she joins from Shopify Logistics, where she led Pricing and Go-to-Market Strategy. Helenbrook previously spent 15 years in management consulting, including senior positions at Insight2Profit and Boston Consulting Group.

Technology providers

  • Climate risk analytics platform Climate X has appointed former Yahoo Chief Business Officer Iván Markman to its Advisory Board. He was formerly a Special Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors of comScore, and also held the role of General Manager of Neustar’s marketing services business after its acquisition of MarketShare, where he was Chief Operating Officer (COO).

  • Technology provider SMartX has appointed Jim Hays as Strategic Advisor. He is a former President and CEO of Wells Fargo Advisors and led Wells Fargo’s Wealth and Investment Management Client Relationship Group. Previous roles include heading Merrill Lynch’s Private Banking & Investment Group. Hays is also a Strategic Advisor at BridgeFT.

  • Wealth management industry software provider InvestCloud has named Jeff Yabuki as Chairman and CEO. Yabuki was previously CEO of payments and financial technology firm Fiserv between 2005 and 2020, and Chairman from 2019 to 2020. He was previously Executive Vice President and COO at H&R Block and has also held leadership positions at American Express. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Royal Bank of Canada and Nasdaq, and is Chairman of Sportradar Group.

Fund administration

  • Fund administrator Langham Hall has announced the appointment of three new Heads of Jurisdiction in the US, Jersey, and Luxembourg. Joseph Hindi has been appointed Head of USA. He was previously Head of Client Relations at Apex Group and as a Director at Gen II Fund Services. Lauren Slattery, a former Group Head of Accounting for a private investment firm, has been appointed as Head of Jersey, while Maria Thorsted has moved from Head of Luxembourg Operations to the role of Head of Luxembourg.

    The firm also announced that Chris Marshall will take on the role of Executive Chair in Jersey, while Keith McShea will become Chairman of Langham Hall Luxembourg.

  • Fund administrator Ocorian has appointed Matt Bythell as Chief Marketing Officer. He was most recently Marketing Director at Link Group and has previously held roles at EY and Arup.

Legal

  • Real estate and corporate attorney Joseph Leone has joined Federman Steifman as Partner, based in the firm’s New York office. Previous roles include as an associate in the real estate groups of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, and Debevoise & Plimpton.
