November 27, 2023 (Preqin News) – A round-up of last week’s people moves at LPs and GPs:

LPs

  • RWJBarnabas Health has appointed Kathleen Jacobs as Chief Investment Officer (CIO), responsible for directing the $8bn health system’s investment strategy. Jacobs was most recently CIO of New York University, where she spent eight years. Her previous roles include Managing Director in the Office of Investments at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Senior Investor for the Juilliard School’s endowment. She has also held investment roles at Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan.

  • Workplace pension scheme TPT Retirement Solutions has promoted Peter Smith to Head of Investment at TPT Investment Management (TPTIM). In his new role, Smith – who joined the firm from HSBC in 2008 – will be responsible for the development of TPTIM’s investment strategy.

    The firm has also announced the arrival of Inês Cunha Pereira as Responsible Investment Manager. She joins from Man Group, where she was a Stewardship Manager for more than five years. In her new role, Pereira will oversee the implementation of TPT’s Responsible Investment policies.

  • Family office Hottinger Group has appointed Sarah Deaves as its new Chair. Currently Managing Director of abrdn Financial Planning, she previously served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coutts and also held roles at Schroders Personal Wealth and Lloyds Banking Group.

  • The private equity arm of Lloyds Bank, LDC, has announced three additions to its Value Creation Partners (VCP) team. Richard Haynes has been appointed Commercial Director and will lead the commercial VCP team. Most recently Chief Commercial Officer at digital learning business Avado, his previous roles involved working with management teams to design and implement growth plans for private equity-backed digitally enabled B2B organizations. He spent his early career with PA Consulting and EY.

    Natasha Fisher joins as Commercial Manager and Arnie Fuller as VCP Technology Manager. She was most recently a Consultant at Armstrong Transaction Services, where she worked on commercial due diligence and value creation projects for private equity mid-market funds, debt providers, and corporate investors. She started her career with Simon-Kucher & Partners.

    Arnie Fuller has been appointed Technology Manager. Currently IT Manager at LDC, he will partner with LDC’s portfolio company management teams to help improve IT effectiveness.

  • Multi-family office Stonehage Fleming has appointed Gillian Ralston Jordan as Head of Family Office in Guernsey. She joins from JTC, where she was Group Director. Previous roles include Director and Head of Fiduciary Services at Duncan Lawrie Private Banking, and Director at Abacus Trust Company. She has also held roles at IFG International as a Client Services Director, and at Ernst & Young Trust Corporation (latterly RBTT) as Managing Director. A practicing Solicitor regulated by the Law Society of Scotland, she is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and a Notary Public in Scotland.

  • Fidelity International CEO Anne Richards is to step down after five years in the role. She will stay on as CEO during a transition period over the coming months. Plans for a successor have not yet been announced. Richards’ career in asset management began in 1992 and she has held roles at firms including Alliance Capital, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, and Aberdeen Asset Management. She will remain with Fidelity in the role of Vice Chair.

  • InCred Global Wealth has appointed Arjun Badhwar as Vice Chairman. He will be responsible for bolstering the firm’s ultra-high-net-worth individuals and family office franchise in Southeast Aisa, the Middle East, and the UK. Most recently Deputy Head of Deutsche Bank’s Global South Asia business, Badhwar has also held roles at Standard Chartered, UBS, and JP Morgan.

GPs

  • Alternative asset manager ICG has appointed Stelios Elia as a Managing Director within its European Corporate team. He will focus on opportunities in the UK, Nordics, and Benelux, and contribute to the team’s Telecoms, Media, and Technology coverage. Elia joins after spending 15 years at BC Partners, where he served as a Managing Director in its European Private Equity team. He was formerly at McKinsey & Company, where he focused on strategy, private equity, and hedge fund-related projects.

  • Taaleri has appointed Mikko Krootila as managing director of its real estate business following the recent departure of Essi Sten. Krootila joins from fund manager Helix Real Estate, where he was a Managing Partner, and will take up the role on January 1, 2024. Taaleri Group CEO, Peter Ramsay, will fill the position in the interim period. Krootila will also be a member of Taaleri’s Executive Management Team.

  • Prudential Financial’s investment management arm PGIM has hired Sancia Dalley as a Managing Director in its Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). She was most recently at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, where she was Senior Vice President of Investor Engagement. Previous roles include working with former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Richard Holbrooke, to build CEO-led organization Global Business Coalition.

  • BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has announced that Rodolphe Brumm will head its new Low Carbon Infrastructure Equity strategy within its Private Assets investment division. Brumm joins from Antin Infrastructure Partners, where he was most recently a Partner. Previous roles include Head of Origination & Execution for Europe at UBS Infrastructure Equity in London, Advisor at NextWorld Evergreen in San Francisco and Managing Director in Ardian’s equity infrastructure team.

    The new strategy, which is due to launch at the beginning of 2024, will invest in low-carbon infrastructure projects in Europe via acquisition of minority stakes in companies in sectors related to the energy transition.

    Brumm will be joined by Frédéric Guiraudios, who moves to BNPP AM after approximately 20 years in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as a Managing Director at BNP Paribas Corporate & Institutional Banking.

  • European private equity firm Exponent has appointed Jacqueline Flynn as Operations Director to head up its new operational base in Dublin. Flynn joins from BlackRock where she was most recently Chief Operating Officer (COO) for its Irish operations. The firm's finance and investor relations functions will relocate to the Dublin office and will be joined by further hires. The Dublin office will also support the firm’s investment activity in Ireland.

  • Private debt firm Deerpath Capital Management has appointed Lino Roemisch as Director of Investor Partnerships in Europe. Roemisch - who will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with European investors in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland – was most recently Vice President at Heptagon Capital, focused on investors and family offices across the DACH and Benelux regions. He previously held roles at Goldman Sachs where he was part of the equity structuring team covering European clients.

  • Healthcare service-focused private equity firm Vesey Street Capital Partners has announced Chris Hasslinger has joined the firm as a Partner. He was most recently a Senior Investment Partner for the SAI Group, where he led healthcare investing activity. Previous roles include Senior Vice President at Optum, and at Piper Jaffray, where he led the software banking practice for several years.

  • Middle Eastern asset management firm SHUAA Capital has named Wafik Ben Mansour as Acting CEO after Fawad Tariq Khan decided to step down for personal reasons, according to the company. Ben Mansour joined SHUAA in May 2023 to lead the company’s advisory and capital markets platform. He was previously at Credit Suisse, where he had spent 15 years.
