A round-up of last week’s people moves at LPs and GPs around the world.

LPs

  • Dutch pension provider Aegon Asset Management has promoted Antonia Balaam to Head of Master Trust, a newly created position based in London. She joined in 2019 as a Client Relationship Director and was Director, DC Clients before her promotion. She previously held positions at First Actuarial, Willis Towers Watson, and Aon Hewitt.

  • US-based Arch Insurance International has promoted Mike Bottle to Managing Director of its UK regional division. He joined as an SVP in 2019 and will be responsible for leading regional offices and overseeing UK strategy and distribution. Elizabeth Thompson has also been promoted to Offshore Energy Underwriting Manager and James Brown has been hired as a Senior Energy Advisor.

  • The BT Pension Scheme has appointed Steven Dickson as Member Nominated Trustee Director, succeeding Ben Marshall who retired as a Trustee after eight years. Dickson joined BT as a Telecommunications Engineer in 1989 and held various senior positions, latterly leading the Global Contract Assurance program before retiring in 2021. He was previously a Trustee on the BT Retirement Savings Scheme and part of the Prospect Trade Union National Executive Committee.

  • Evercore Wealth Management, the investor arm of the investment banking advisory firm, has hired Jonathan Kropf as Partner and Head of the San Francisco office. He joins from IEQ Capital, where he was a Managing Director, and was previously a Senior Managing Director at SVB Private.

  • M&G Investments, the asset management division of M&G, has appointed Marcello Arona as Chief Financial Officer. He was previously at AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) for 20 years, latterly serving as CEO of AXA IM UK and GS. Before that, he spent four years as Italy COO at HSBC Private Bank.

  • Los Angeles-headquartered Oaktree Capital Management has hired Torben Dunkel as Head of Germany and Austria, Marketing and Client Relations. He will be based in Frankfurt and will have responsibility for business development in the region. He joins from Aviva Investors, where he served as the Head of Europe, and previously held roles at Robeco, Selinus Capital, and JP Morgan Asset Management.

  • Canadian multi-family office Richter has promoted Sarah Benammar, Dominique Loiseau, Derek Mior, Shahaf Ozgaon, and Luciano Renda to Partner. They operate across the Montreal, Toronto, and Quebec offices. The investor has also hired Matthew Fantauzzi as a Partner from EY in Toronto.

  • Stuart Parkinson has been hired as Group CEO at Stonehage Fleming, a financial services firm offering wealth management. He joins from Lombard Odier, where he was Group CEO for almost five years. Before that, he spent 17 years at HSBC, latterly as Global CIO.

  • Wealth manager Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management has hired Patrick Race as a Managing Director in London. He will focus on serving large UK pension schemes and developing long-term investment strategies. He previously spent two years as a Founding Partner at Isio.

GPs

  • US healthcare-focused private equity firm 3 Boomerang Capital has appointed Martin LeBlanc as Chairman of its Strategic & Operational Advisory Board. He previously co-founded CellCarta, a precision medicine testing service, and served as its CEO from 2019–2023. 3 Boomerang Capital closed its first private equity fund in February last year at $375mn, according to Preqin data.

  • Cristina Lugaro has been hired as Head of Distribution – Nordics at sustainable investment firm Candriam. She succeeds Alain Deflandre, Head of Distribution Luxembourg & Nordics, who will continue as Head of Distribution Luxembourg. She was previously Head of Sales, Sweden at Nordic investment firm Ness, Risan & Partners Capital Advisory.

  • Secondaries specialist Coller Capital has opened an office in Singapore and appointed Peter Wu as Head of Product Management, Private Wealth. He was formerly Global Head of Product Control at Partners Group, where he led product operations for private markets funds.

  • US-based venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA) has promoted Mustafa Neemuchwala and Hunter Worland to Principal in New York. Neemuchwala focuses on investments in AI, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and frontier tech, while Worland invests in fintech, commerce, and consumer technology. NEA closed a US-focused venture secondaries fund last year on $468mn, according to Preqin data.

  • Colorado-based real assets investor Vision Ridge Partners has appointed PJ Jannuzzi as Managing Director and Head of Asset Management. He will be based in New York and joins from Blackstone, where he was Managing Director, Asset Management. Previously, he worked at Bain & Company, Tishman Speyer, and Goldman Sachs.

  • WILsquare Capital, a US lower-mid market private equity firm, has promoted Andrew Scharf to Managing Director and Matthew Padgett to Senior Associate. Scharf joined in 2018 from Croft & Bender, and Padgett joined as an Intern in 2019, before starting as an Analyst.

  • ZMC, a US mid-market private equity firm focused on the media, entertainment, communications, and technology sectors, has promoted Scott Lucas to Principal; Ben Carus to Principal, Value Creation; Christina Gao to Vice President; and Lauren Fisher to Chief Talent Advisor & Operating Partner. ZMC has raised seven funds over the past decade totaling $2.8bn, according to Preqin data.
