A round-up of last week’s people moves at LPs and GPs around the world
LPs
Wealth management firm Summit Trail Advisors has acquired the Key Client Group of BNP Paribas’ Bank of the West. The investor has established new offices in Portland, Oregon, and Denver, Colorado. In San Francisco, David Hultman and Danielle Louton join as Partners, and Ina Locsin as an Associate in Client Services. Shima Salehi joins as a Partner, Advisor in the new Portland office, and will lead the firm’s expansion in the Pacific Northwest. In Denver, Matthew Marsh will lead expansion in the Rocky Mountain Region as a Partner, Advisor. Ali Homayounfar, former Head of the Key Client Group, Partner, and Head of Business Development, joins in New York, as does Roberto Homar as an Advisor and Portfolio Management Specialist, and Tony Morel as Investment Specialist. Dimitre Ivanov joins the Chicago office as Head of Business Management and Client Reporting. Finally, Tannaz Sanandaj joins the Los Angeles office as Client Service Officer.
New York-based Voya Investment Management has hired Tiffani Potesta as Head of Distribution. She spent 12 years at Schroders, latterly as Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Distribution.
GPs
Private equity firm Blue Wolf Capital has hired Dr. Steve Sleigh as Senior Advisor, following the retirement of Mike Musuraca. He was previously self-employed at Sleigh Strategy, advising clients since 2015. Before that, he was Fund Director at IAM National Pension Fund and Benefit Trust.
Carlyle has announced leadership changes across their Americas Corporate Private Equity division. Sandra Horbach has been promoted to Chair of Americas Corporate Private Equity, and will remain on the investment committees of US Corporate Private Equity funds. Steve Wise, Global Head of Healthcare, has been promoted to Co-Head of Americas Corporate Private Equity. Two new Co-Heads of Healthcare will replace Wise, Senior Partners Joe Bress and Robert Schmidt.
Infrastructure giant Macquarie Capital has hired Steven Westerback as Managing Director, Head of Financial Sponsors Secondary Advisory, a newly created role. He joins from advisory firm and placement agent Atlantic-Pacific Capital, where he led the secondaries business and was a Partner.
Global investment firm Permira has announced that Brian Ruder and Dipan Patel have been promoted to Co-Managing Partners and Co-CEOs, replacing Kurt Björklund, who will become Executive Chairman effective September 1, 2024. Ruder joined the firm in 2008, and serves on the Executive Committee, chairing the Permira Growth Opportunities Investment Committee and co-chairing the buyout funds’ Investment Committee. Patel is the Co-Head of Permira’s Consumer sector team and serves on various committees, first joining the firm in 2009.
TDK Ventures, the investment arm of Japanese electronics firm TDK, has opened its first European office in London. Previously based in TDK Ventures headquarters in San Jose, California, Marc Bouchet has been promoted to Senior Investment Associate, leading the capital deployment from TDK Ventures Fund 2. David Delfassy will join as Investment Director from Ahren Innovation Capital, where he was Senior Investment Associate. Finally, Sam Hill joins as Investment Analyst from Clean Growth Investment Management, where he was a private equity investor.
Los Angeles-based private equity firm Vance Street Capital has opened its second office, in Dallas, Texas. The firm has hired Scott Bigelow as Senior Fund Controller from ORIX USA, where he was Director of Finance and led the asset management accounting team. Natalia Rainforth joins as accounting Manager from IQ-EQ, where she was a Manager in the CFO services group. The firm has also promoted Yousaf Tahir to Principal and Will Robinson to VP.
