A round-up of last week’s people moves at LPs and GPs around the world
LPs
Alberto Santulin has joined sovereign wealth fund Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) as CIO – Alternative Investment Department. He spent over 20 years at Blackstone, most recently serving as Managing Director – Portfolio Construction Team in the Alternative Asset Management division.
Insurance company Empower has appointed Marta Norton as Chief Investment Strategist. She was formerly CIO for the Americas at Morningstar, having spent 18 years at the firm.
Ronna McDaniel, Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee from 2017 until this year, has joined Ohio-based family office Weinberg Capital Group on its Board of Strategic Advisors. Most recently, she was a Political Analyst at NBC News, though that role ended after four days.
GPs
Credit and real estate manager Arrow Global has acquired Interboden, a real estate business in Germany. Bernhard H. Hansen has been appointed Interim CEO and will work alongside the existing management team and CFO Dr. René Maler. Founded in 1950, Interboden focuses on the residential sector and is currently managing projects with a gross development value in excess of €500mn.
Real assets fund manager Ancala Partners has hired Sebastian Schwengber as a Director in its Asset Management team. He joins from Allianz Capital Partners, where he served as a Director in the Direct Infrastructure team, and before that, he was an Associate Director at 3i Infrastructure.
London-based Arjun Infrastructure Partners has appointed Oleg Shamovsky as Managing Partner. He previously served as Managing Director, Private Infrastructure at Partners Group, and Global Co-Head of Core Infrastructure at Global Infrastructure Partners.
BlackRock has hired Yik Ley Chan to lead the asset manager’s Southeast Asia private credit business. He formerly served as SVP and Head of Asia private credit at Jefferies, joining in November 2023, and before that served in Credit Suisse’s APAC private credit division. In Europe, the fund manager has hired Camille de Lamotte as Co-Head of Private Debt in France & Spain. He joins from Goldman Sachs, where he was Head of Direct Lending for France and Spain, and before that, Head of Leveraged Finance for GE Capital.
Blue Owl Capital has hired Jose Nieto as VP, International Private Wealth. He was previously VP, Offshore Wealth Business at Blackstone, and prior to that, a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch.
Private equity firm Coalesce Capital has appointed Curtis Roby as Managing Director, James Hearty as Managing Director and Head of Business Development, and Christian Diez as Managing Director and CFO. Roby was previously a Principal at Audax Private Equity. Hearty joins from FoW Partners, where he served as Head of Business Development, and was previously a Principal of Business Development at Freemark Partners. Diez served as CFO for Two Sigma Private Investments, and before that, was Principal, Head of Finance & Accounting at Navab Capital Partners.
Secondaries-focused manager Coller Capital has appointed Boris Maeder as head of the firm’s new Zurich office, Managing Director, and Head of International Private Wealth Distribution. He previously served as Managing Director – Global Head of Private Markets Distribution at UBS.
Belgian private equity firm Core Equity Holdings has appointed Frederic Collin as CFO. He joins from property developer Revive, where he was Head of Fund Management. Before that, he was an Independent Director at TwentyTwo Real Estate after having been CFO for four years.
Infrastructure manager DTCP has hired Oliver Menzel and Jean-Francois Berche as Senior Advisors. Menzel was CEO of datacenter operator Maincubes for 12 years and will be based in Hamburg. In London, Berche joins from Microsoft, where he was Senior Director, Mergers & Acquisitions Strategy, and before that, he worked at Amazon Web Services for nearly a decade.
Private equity firm Edison Partners has promoted Michael Dirla to VP. He joined the firm in 2021 and was a Senior Associate. Before joining, he was an Associate at Lightyear Capital.
Heather Rodriguez has joined Evolution Equity Partners as a Venture Partner, alongside her current role as CEO of Security Innovation Network (SINET), a cybersecurity investment platform.
London-based infrastructure firm InfraRed Capital Partners has hired Gianluca Minella as Head of Infrastructure Research, a newly created role. He joins from ADIA, where he was Head of Portfolio Strategy and Research. Before that, he was Head of Infrastructure Research at DWS for eight years.
Mid-market private equity firm Inflexion has announced a series of promotions. Josh Griffin, Head of Tax, has been promoted to Partner. In the investment team, Molly Hindhaugh, Toby Lane, and Olivia Craig have been promoted to Assistant Director, and Vincent Wilhelm assumes the role of Investment Executive. In the Value Acceleration team, Jan Beitner has been promoted to Director, Data & AI, Rory Cooke to Senior Data Analyst, and Lisa Houston becomes Senior Business Change Manager.
Chicago-based real estate firm LaSalle Investment Management has promoted Brad Gries to Head of the Americas. He will retain his positions as Chair of the Americas Investment Committee, and Member of the Global Management Committee, as well as resuming the the role of Co-CIO for the Americas. He first joined the firm in 2017, latterly serving as Co-Head of the Americas. Before joining, he was Managing Director, Real Estate Transactions, at DWS Group.
Private equity firm Luminate Capital Partners has promoted Lucy Li to Partner from Managing Director of Strategic Finance. She first joined the firm in 2022 from Facebook, where she worked in finance and business planning, and has prior private equity and banking experience from Genstar Capital and JP Morgan
New York-based Madison International Realty has appointed Evan Abrams as Head of US Equity Capital Markets. He joins from Lazard, where he co-led the US Real Estate & Real Assets Advisory business as a Director in the Private Capital Advisory group.
Texas-based Presidio Investors has hired Susan Michaels as Operating Partner. She was previously Chief Sales Officer at defense intelligence company Janes, and was SVP, Third Party Risk & Compliance Sales at business solutions firm Dun & Bradstreet.
Andrew Dreaneen has been appointed as Savills Investment Management’s first Global Head of Natural Capital in the Rural Advisory practice. He previously spent 23 years at Schroders, latterly serving as Head of Alternatives, focusing on natural climate solutions and carbon markets.
Private equity firm Warburg Pincus has appointed Tobias Weidner and Jake Strauss as Managing Directors in its European business. Weidner will work with the Industrial and Business Services team in Berlin with a focus on the DACH region, and joins from Bain Capital, where he was a partner in the Global Private Equity team. Strauss first joined the firm 14 years ago, latterly serving as a Principal in the Healthcare group. In his new role, he will join the newly formed European Healthcare investing team.
