A round-up of last week’s people moves at LPs and GPs around the world
LPs
Insurance giant Aviva Investors has hired Duane Green as CEO, Canada and Head of Americas Distribution. He will lead the team from Toronto and be responsible for business development and client relationships. Green joins from Fiduciary Trust, where he was Chairman and Director of its Canada arm. Before that, he was at Franklin Templeton for almost 20 years, latterly as President & CEO of its Canada division.
Florida-based multi-family office Certuity has promoted Constantine Hatzivassiliou from Managing Director to Partner. He joined the investor in 2014 and was previously a VP at BNY Mellon and Alliance Bernstein.
Ohio-based Clearstead Advisors has bought Waveland Family Office, a wealth management firm based in Chicago with $420mn AUM. Waveland's six employees will join the Clearstead team and adopt the Clearstead name, with Principals Allen Berg and Dennis Zaslavsky joining as Equity Partners.
Focus Financial Partners, an independent network of wealth managers, has hired Jason Dubinsky as Chief Financial Officer. He succeeds Jim Shanahan who will serve as a Consultant before retiring later this year. Most recently, Dubinsky was the Chief Financial Officer of Morningstar, a role he held from 2017–2024. Before that, he held several roles at Walgreens Boots Alliance.
Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC has promoted Bryan Yeo and Boon Chin Hau, effective April 1, 2025. Yeo was formerly Deputy Group Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and will be appointed Group CIO overseeing the total investment portfolio. He is succeeding Dr Jeffrey Jaensubhakij, who will be appointed as an Advisor before retiring. Boon Chin Hau will be CIO for Infrastructure, having held the Deputy role previously. He is succeeding Ang Eng Seng, who is also retiring.
Colorado-based Mercer Advisors has hired Alisa Maute as Executive Managing Director and Head of Client Development, a newly created role. She will be responsible for coaching and developing client development professionals, evolving go-to-market channels, and working with market leadership teams. She was previously an EVP, Investment Product Management & Retirement at LPL Financial.
GPs
Chicago-headquartered Adams Street Partners has promoted Emily Shiau and Nolan Pauker to Partner in the Private Credit team. Shiau joined in 2016 and previously worked at Alvarez & Marsal and Citigroup. Pauker was previously at SLR Partners. Adams Street is currently raising 10 vehicles across secondaries, fund of funds, and venture capital, according to Preqin data.
Copenhagen-headquartered AIP Management, an infrastructure manager that invests in decarbonization and energy transition companies and projects, has promoted Mads Lerche Holstein, Martin Vering Dalsager, Mikkel Barth-Højgaard, and Daniel Noe Harboe to Partner. Holstein leads high-impact projects, particularly in onshore wind, solar PV, and electrified transport, while Vering Dalsager is responsible for sourcing and executing offshore wind investments. Barth-Højgaard has overseen the Finance, Tax, Valuation, Risk, and IT functions as CFO, and Noe Harboe has built and leads the Tax function. The promotions increase the number of partners from six to ten. AIP closed its second infrastructure fund in January 2022 on €4bn, according to Preqin data.
Ares Management has promoted Kipp deVeer and Blair Jacobson to Co-Presidents, two newly created positions. DeVeer joined in 2004 and is also a Director on the Ares Management Board of Directors, as well as sitting on multiple Investment Committees. He will be based in New York. Jacobson is based in London, and joined in 2012 to build the European Direct Lending Platform and is on the boards of Ares Management, Ares Management UK, and Aspida Holdings.
Kort Schnabel has also been promoted to CEO of Ares Capital. He was previously Co-President of Ares Capital alongside Jim Miller, who will continue as sole President. Ares announced last week that it had raised €2.2bn for an open-ended private debt fund, primarily from wealthy individuals in Europe and Asia.
Texas-based Canyon Partners has hired Georg Machinist and Matt Brody as Managing Directors to lead capital formation efforts. Machinist will serve as Head of Americas Capital Formation and joins from KKR, where he was a Managing Director in the Credit Global Client Solutions Group. Brody will be Head of Real Estate Capital Formation, and most recently Head of Real Estate Capital and Lead Product Specialist at Apollo. Canyon invests across public and private corporate credit, structured credit, and direct real estate lending and investing.
Private equity firm Cinven has appointed Philipp Meyer as a Partner. He will be based in Frankfurt and focus on the DACH region and the European healthcare sector. He joins after 18 years at The Carlyle Group, where he was a Managing Director in the European Buyout fund and Co-Head of Healthcare in Europe.
US private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice has hired Sam Camens as a Managing Director in New York. He will drive the health and welfare strategy, and support diligence and investment activities. He joins from Onex Partners, where he was Managing Director of Insurance & Benefits.
New York-headquartered Davidson Kempner has appointed João Talone as a Senior Advisor focusing on investments in the energy, digital transformation, and infrastructure sectors. He was formerly Chairman and CEO of EDP Group, a European energy utility company.
Billy Rahm, the former Head of Real Estate at Centerbridge, has founded private markets investment firm Everview, on the belief that applying both private equity and credit expertise to US real asset investments could yield enduring performance across market cycles, he said in a statement.
In addition to Rahm, Everview’s investment team will include David Cohen, a former real estate Managing Director at Brookfield Asset Management; Komal Sankla, a former Principal at Blackstone; Austin Zurlo, a former VP at Starwood Capital Group; and Gregory Ressa, former Partner and Head of the Real Estate Practice at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
Secondaries fund of funds firm Lexington Partners has promoted Jeffrey Bloom and Cullen Schannep to Partner in New York and Menlo Park, California, respectively. Victor Wu has also been promoted to Co-Chair of the Secondary Investment Committee in New York, alongside Wil Warren and Pål Ristvedt.
Private credit manager Monroe Capital has opened its first office in Australia and appointed Galen Fu as Business Development Director. He will be based in Sydney and be responsible for client servicing and capital raising in the country. Fu joins from Hines Investment Management, where he was a Director.
US infrastructure firm Orion Infrastructure Capital has hired Jay McKenna as a Managing Director on the Infrastructure Credit team, based in Houston. He was CEO of renewables firm Occurrent Power until August 2024, and was formerly CEO of Nacero for eight years. Other new hires include Carl Geagea, Felipe Oliveira, and Salome Saliashvili as Senior Associates, Chris Wang as an Associate, and Kelsey Haertling as Senior Analyst.
London-headquartered private equity firm Pantheon has named Kathryn Leaf as CEO and Jeff Miller as CIO. They both joined the firm in 2008 and were most recently Co-Heads of Investment. Leaf will succeed Paul Ward, who is now Executive Chairman. As well as being CIO, Miller will also be Global Head of Private Equity. As well as the Executive changes, Janice Ince, Iain Jones, and Marc Melia have been promoted to Partners in the infrastructure, investor relations, and legal teams, respectively.
Private equity manager Permira is looking to open an office in Dubai this year to expand its coverage and footprint in the region and has appointed Nader Salman as Managing Director, Head of Middle East in its Capital Formation team. Salman joins from Neuberger Berman where he was Managing Director, Middle East & Africa, and is based in Dubai.
Chris Buchanan has also joined as Partner and Global Head of Capital Formation. He was previously a Partner at Apollo Global Management for 16 years and held various roles including Global Head of Institutional Client Group, Co-Head of Institutional Client & Product Solutions, and Head of American and European Sales.
Minneapolis-based Proterra Investment Partners has hired David Kay as Managing Director, and Co-Head of Net Lease Real Estate, a new strategy from the firm. Proterra focuses on private equity and private credit investments across the food value chain. Kay was most recently the Founder and Managing Partner of Jera Partners, a commercial real estate firm that specialized in properties net-leased to credit tenants.
New York-based Siguler Guff & Company has hired Marcus Clitheroe as a Principal. He is the firm’s first emerging markets-focused hire and will be based in Sydney. He previously spent two years as a Client Relationship Manager at Partners Group and formerly spent nine years at PIMCO.
US-based Summit Partners has announced a series of promotions. In the Peak Performance Group, Sergio Mur has been promoted to Partner, as well as Kurt Brimberry and Cathy Tanimura to Principal. In the Technology Group, Nick Oppedisano has been promoted to Partner, Daniel Kim to Principal, and Chandler Scott to Vice President. Finally, in the Healthcare Group, Adesh Jain has been promoted to Principal.
Houston-based middle-market private equity firm The Sterling Group has promoted Nate Reeve to Director and Annika Ward to Director, Management Company Accounting. Vincent Gennaro has also been promoted to Principal, and Nikhil Nayak to Principal, Commercial Diligence & Strategy. The firm is currently raising its third private credit fund, which has a target size of $400mn, according to Preqin data.
Missouri-based WaterEquity has hired Aleem Remtula as Head of Private Equity & Infrastructure. He will focus on advancing investments in water access, sanitation, and climate resilience across emerging markets. He was previously Partner and Co-Head of Private Equity at Developing World Markets, leading growth equity investments in financial institutions.
