In this eighth edition of our Women in Alternatives report, we found that women account for 21.8% of all employees, as of January 2024. This represents a 24.4% uptick from 2020. Despite the powerful forces driving gender equality, our industry has a long way to go. The data shows progress year on year, yet a larger disparity among more senior and C-suite roles. We look at what new opportunities might give rise to more optimism about female representation.
Preqin's Women in Alternatives 2024 report draws on over 350,000 profiles across the asset classes to measure the trends among active fund managers and investors. We aim to provide greater transparency around workplace demographics and to amplify the conversations about women in the industry, the importance of representation, and how companies can best support DEI efforts.
