
Private equity and venture capital fundraising was challenging in Greater China amid persistent lockdowns during 2022, but well-established funds still managed to raise capital. Aggregate capital raised fell to just $36.8bn in 2022, significantly lower than the average $148.9bn raised between 2019 and 2021. Managers continued to deploy capital in China’s policy-aligned sectors, with increased interest in secondary deals over the last two years.
