Private capital in Canada is expanding as assets under management (AUM) continue to climb, reaching a record high of $322.6bn in September 2022. Fundraising in the country remains steady, and private equity and venture capital have experienced strong growth over the last year while attracting new fund managers. However, deal activity has decelerated in the last two years in all asset classes, except for private equity buyouts and infrastructure.
