
Against the fallout from the COVID pandemic, 2020 proved a record year for private capital fundraising by France-based fund managers, with total capital secured racing past the €50bn milestone for the first time. This was driven by booms in technology and infrastructure as Paris prepares to host the 2024 Olympic Games. With alternatives assets under management up 13% in the past year to €248bn, the French market is now more than double the size of its nearest rival, Germany, and is chipping away at the UK's lead.
