The Australian private capital industry has grown to $68bn in total assets as of June 2019, up from $60bn at the end of 2018. Following strong flows of capital from an increasingly diverse pool of domestic and offshore institutions, the Australian private equity & venture capital market has contributed much to this growth, with assets under management rising by 16% in the six months to June 2019.
Together with the Australian Investment Council, we look back at private capital in 2019 to pick apart the key attractions of a market playing a vital role in delivering strong returns to investors, and in furthering the development of the wider economy in Australia and around the world. We also explore the size, scale, and influence of Australian superannuation funds, which are responsible for driving an ongoing focus on ESG across every dimension of investment strategy.
This report covers activity data on funds, deals, and capital flows across the private equity, venture capital, private debt, real estate, and infrastructure & natural resources sectors in Australia.
