Using the Preqin for Salesforce Plugin

Streamline your processes by viewing Preqin data directly in Salesforce. Instantly sync Preqin firm and contact information with your existing Salesforce data to optimize your workflows. Access the plugin at the click of a button and eliminate the need to navigate between your Salesforce instance and Preqin Pro, saving you time and resources.

Searching and linking firms and contacts

How to link a firm

1. Navigate to a firm profile, where you will find Preqin for Salesforce data populated in the top right-hand corner:

2. The plugin will automatically search for similar firm names to show suggested matches in the ‘Search’ tab:

3. Each firm suggestion can be clicked on to display further details. You can also click on the 'back' button to return to the the suggested search results:

4 Once you have found the right Preqin firm data you want to associate with the profile, click on ‘Link Firm’

5. You will then receive a confirmation that Preqin data has been linked:

6. After establishing this link, the Preqin for Salesforce plugin will default to the ‘Firm Details’ tab every time you navigate to this firm profile:

Note: If you are using both investor and fund manager data, it will link that firm to both datasets. The system will not allow you to link two different firms to one individual record.

How to unlink a firm

1. If you have linked a firm and wish to unlink it, you can do so by clicking the 'Unlink Firm' button.

2. Click the 'OK' button to confirm you would like to continue.

3. You will then see a success message at the top of your screen that will confirm your selected firm is no longer linked to your instance.

Once the firm is linked, the following sections will display Preqin data in real time. Please see the Preqin for Salesforce Plugin Data Dictionary to view all available data and descriptions.


Navigating the ‘Firm Details’ tab

1. Firm overview data will open to display all high-level data related to the firm:

2. All sections below the firm overview will be collapsed by default. You can click on the arrow to expand each of them:

3. The ‘Allocations to Alternatives’ section displays the total allocations across the asset classes the firm is active in:

4. Each asset-class-specific section below dives deeper into the firm’s allocations:

Note: The asset classes included in your subscription will appear below. For example, if you subscribe to private equity and private debt, both will be displayed in this section.

Creating a firm or a contact in Salesforce

Creating a firm in Salesforce

The Preqin plugin will show you firms that may not exist in your Salesforce instance.
You can follow the steps below to create the firm within Salesforce.

1. Enter the firm name into the search box and click on the name of the firm.

2. Click ‘Add new account’.

3. You will see a confirmation that the firm has been created.

4. If you click ‘Open Account’, it will bring you to the firm’s newly created page.

Creating a contact in Salesforce

Preqin will show you contacts that may not exist in your Salesforce instance. Follow these steps below to create these new contacts within Salesforce.

1. Open the contact you would like to view and click the ‘add as contact’ button.

2. You will receive a confirmation that the contact has been created.

3. You can click ‘open contact’ to navigate to your newly created contact.

4. If you click ‘Open Account’ it will bring you to the firm’s newly created page.

Navigating the ‘Contacts’ tab

Once a firm is linked you can quickly view and search their contacts directly on the firm’s page.

1. Open the contact you would like to view and click the ‘add as contact’ button.

2. You will receive a confirmation that the contact has been created.

3. You can click ‘open contact’ to navigate to your newly created contact.

Navigating the ‘Contacts’ tab

Once a firm is linked you can quickly view and search their contacts directly on the firm’s page.

1. Contacts are displayed on a scrollable list. The arrow next to each contact can be clicked on to show full details:

2. The search function enables you to find users based on their name and job title:

Error message

In the event of an error, the plugin will display error messages to provide Salesforce administrators or other users with additional details. Please see table below for specifics on each error message.
