Collaboration features
Create target lists from anywhere within the Preqin Pro platform, plus upload your own, to stay up to date with the information most relevant to your alternatives strategy.
From a profile
To add a profile to your target list, use Quick Search to find a profile of interest. Learn more about Quick Search here.
Once on a profile you can add it to your Target List by clicking the Add to Target List icon located next to the Share and Feedback icons in the top left-hand corner.
Clicking the icon will open a modal. From here, you’ll be asked to create a new list or to choose an existing list to add the profile to.
If you decide to add it to an existing list, simply click on the Add to Target List button next to the list. This will add the profile to the list and surface a message confirming the action.
Alternatively, click on Create & Add to start a new list. You can then select a name and opt to turn on notifications for this list.
Using Search For
You can also use the Search For feature to set up your target lists. To start with this approach, click ‘Search For’ in the top navigation and choose the category of information you’re looking for. Learn more about Search For here.
From the results within your chosen category, you’ll be able to add multiple selections to your target list by checking the tick boxes located to the left of each datapoint and then clicking the Add to target list button.
As with Quick Search, this will open the modal asking you to create a new list or to choose the list you’d like to add the profile(s) to.
To upload a new Target List, go to your Preqin Pro Dashboard or the ‘My Preqin’ drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner, and select ‘Target lists’. Click ‘Upload list’ on the right-hand side, which will open a dialog box. Select the profile type of the list you are uploading – each list you upload needs to contain firms from one profile type. The type of lists you can upload are dependent on your subscription package and what datasets you have access to.
Name your Target List and select whether you want to enable notifications – these can also be edited and turned on or off later. Download a template to ensure your import is correct, and then drag and drop or select your file to upload.
Once you’ve uploaded your list, each firm name will either produce an exact match, options to pick the correct match, or return no matches. Select the correct options for your matches and confirm.
To view or edit existing target lists, go to your Preqin Pro Dashboard or ‘My Preqin’ drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner, and click ‘Target lists’. From here, click on a target list to view constituent firms in a table format.
To discover new, unseen changes to profiles within a target list, simply click on the ‘View updates’ button for a snapshot of the information that has been updated. Alternatively, click on the firm name to navigate to that specific profile. Once you view an update, the update notification will disappear so you can easily keep track of new information.
You can also manage the information displayed for each of the constituents of your list via the ‘Manage Columns’ in the top-right corner above the table.
Stay on top of new developments at the firms you’re monitoring via your target lists with daily or weekly email notifications. Above the table in each of your target lists, you can choose to turn alert notifications on or off.
When you turn on notifications for an investor target list, you will receive updates when our analysts update any of those investor profiles, or when a news story appears involving one of your monitored firms.
When you turn on notifications for a fund manager target list, you can choose to receive updates on fundraising, deals, or performance.
For fundraising updates, you will receive a notification when one of your monitored targets announces or launches a fund or holds any closes for its current funds.
For deals updates, you will receive a notification when a fund manager in your target list completes a new deal or exit.
For performance updates, you will receive a notification when new performance data is reported for funds managed by your monitored targets.
From here you can also easily collaborate with colleagues by sharing a link to your target lists within Preqin Pro via the Manage sharing button. Learn more about Collaboration features here.
