What are management indicators?
Sustainability management indicators enable you to see sustainability-related policies and practices that fund managers and investors have in place. They can help you understand how sustainability principles are embedded into an organization’s operations and investments.
Preqin Sustainability features 76 indicators for GPs and 53 for LPs, they cover a set of sustainability policies, management practices, and any rules of doing business that have been disclosed and updated within the past two years.

How to use the management indicators
Fund sourcing, manager selection and due diligence for LPs
LPs can use sustainability management indicators to apply a sustainability lens to fund sourcing, external manager selection, and early due diligence workflows. This is particularly helpful for evaluating how these factors correspond with established due diligence frameworks. Management indicators can help identify fund managers with a sustainability-related investment workflow and help identify sustainability policies that may or may not meet expectations. This information can help investors to understand if a manager’s sustainability-related risk exposure aligns with stated policies or commitments.
Fundraising for GPs
GPs can use sustainability management indicators to apply a sustainability lens to fundraising activities by gaining visibility of investors’ sustainability preferences. Understanding investors preferences enables GPs to tailor research and outreach more effectively, and pinpoint areas of sustainability governance where they might be considered weaker than competitors.
Market analysis for SPs
SPs can use sustainability management indicators to access an up-to-date view of the market with standardized, comparable sustainability data. Uncovering trending sustainability commitments and disclosures can save valuable time and resources as part of market analysis and business development workflows.
