Preqin Pro delivers valuable data on hundreds of thousands of companies, encompassing sponsor-backed and bootstrapped companies, as well as real estate assets.

Each company profile is rich with critical information to help you vet the company’s ownership structure, deal history (for sponsor-backed companies), financial health, and growth potential – so you can make more informed decisions on potential investment opportunities.

We also deliver performance data at the asset level and its impact on the fund itself which can be found within fund profiles and fund manager profiles.

Our company and asset profiles are unique in the way they close the loop of the private capital flow – providing information on the asset, the related fund, and the fund managers.

Finding an asset profile

There are two ways to search for assets on Preqin Pro:

  1. Via 'Quick Search' – type the name of a company directly in the quick search navigation bar at the top. Learn more about  'Quick Search' here.

  2. From the top navigation bar, via  'Search For' > 'Companies & Deals' – click on 'Company Search' and use the filters to find the companies that match your criteria or click on 'Real Estate Asset Search' if you’re interested in this asset type.

Please note that the below applies to company profiles accessible via 'Company Search', while real estate asset profiles only contain the overview and deals sections.

For convenience, we will be referring to both companies and real assets as assets throughout this article.

Once you’ve identified an asset you want to learn more about, you can open its profile to find critical information on financials, estimated valuations, multiples benchmarks, deal history, employee data, filings, ownership structure, key contacts, similar companies, as well as ESG asset-level data – to check for growth signals and conduct your due diligence.

Overview

The overview section gives you a snapshot of key information about the asset. This includes company stage (for sponsor-backed companies only), funding type (for bootstrapped companies only), current investors, industry and sub industries, verticals, total employees, a company description, and a timeline of key events.

Similar Companies

Here you can find companies similar to the asset you’ve identified and compare them based on employee count, financials, and more – enabling you to gauge performance for competitor analysis or refine your target lists for deal sourcing. You can also refine the list of similar companies based on location, sector, and stage.

This feature is powered by an algorithm that measures the match strength of keywords extracted from company descriptions.

Valuation multiples benchmarks

Here you will find an asset’s estimated valuation and valuation multiples benchmarks based on our comprehensive company financials – enabling you to assess potential target assets more accurately.

Right below the target’s estimated valuation, you can find the valuation multiples trend chart and table.

The chart lines represent the valuation multiples benchmarks (top quartile, median, and bottom quartile). The blue dots indicate the company’s multiples from past transactions, and the blue bar represents the company’s financials. Please note that financials are deselected by default but can be displayed on the chart by clicking the label in the chart legend.

The table includes entry/exit constituents (i.e., number of underlying funds in the benchmark), valuation multiples benchmarks over time, the company’s multiples and financials, and the respective growth rates for each data point compared to the previous period. Use the ‘Benchmarking metric’ filter to choose the most appropriate metric for your analysis.

Financials & Employees

The financials section in the ‘Financials & Employees’ tab highlights the historical record of a company’s revenue, operating income, EBITDA, and net income. Export this data as an Excel file via the export button in the upper-right corner. Use the currency dropdown menu next to the export button to convert these figures into your preferred currency (USD, RMB, EUR, GBP, HKD, or JPY).

Employee composition data in company profiles

Within the employee data section, you can evaluate a company's lifecycle through headcount trends across departments to identify critical stages such as achieving product-market fit. You can also analyze an asset’s operational efficiency with ‘Revenue per employee’ and ‘EBIDTA per employee’ ratios. Explore how its employee count has evolved – with automated calculations on growth percentage changes compared to the previous month, quarter, and year displayed on the data chart. You can gauge a company’s geographic footprint with breakdowns of employees by location over time to analyze hiring trends and expansion activities. At the very top of the screen, you get a snapshot of the most recent employee count and its growth over the last 12 months.

More details about department descriptions for employee composition can be found here.

Deals

The deals section displays a log of all transactions that the asset has been involved in.

Access a deal profile and find all the details on a particular transaction by clicking on the view button – including its date, status, synopsis, target (i.e., the company involved in the deal), deal or financing size, and known investors in the deal.

Please note this section is only available for sponsor-backed companies.

Ownership

Identify all active and realized owners, as well as their holding periods, in the ownership table in this section. Find out when they became involved, which lead partners and board representatives they brought in, and the deal type of their investment.

People & Partners

Gain visibility over the internal stakeholders involved with the asset in the ‘People & Partners’ section. This includes a list of current and former executives – with information on their position and time at the company,  contact details, links to LinkedIn profiles, and professional bios for you to conduct your early due diligence and outreach.

Find out who the lead partners or board representatives are and access information on the date of their involvement, the firm they work for, other deals they have been involved in, whether they are an active investor, a board member, or a lead partner, as well as a link to their contact details and LinkedIn profile.

The 'Service Providers' table shows all known service providers (i.e., legal and financial advisors, debt providers, brokers) involved in any deal for the asset – including links to their own Preqin Pro profiles, the date of the most recent deal, and the number of deals they have been involved in for that particular asset.

Filings

All the data points within an asset profile are collected by our global multilingual teams using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods. These can all be tracked back to their original sources, with filings underpinning an asset’s financials, valuations, and ownership. These include annual reports, certificates of incorporation, draft registration statements, employee plan exemption notices, and more. Filter the filings by type and year for quick navigation.
