It is a master trust scheme for employees of UK universities and other higher education and research institutions. The private sector pension fund is provided by USS Investment Management, which acts as the principal investment manager and advisor to the Universities Superannuation Scheme. Universities Superannuation Scheme is made up of two parts: its defined benefit (DB) scheme is called The Retirement Income Builder. Its defined contribution (DC) scheme is called The Investment Builder.
