Tyne and Wear Pension Fund is a public pension fund headquartered in South Shields, UK. It is administered by the South Tyneside Council as the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for local authority employees. In July 2015, the UK government announced plans to work with the Local Government Pension Schemes to reform the way investments are managed. As part of the reform, the government ordered the 91 LGPS schemes to combine assets into large investment pools. Tyne and Wear Pension Fund began transferring assets to the collective investment pool, <a href=https://pro.preqin.com/investor/272393>Border to Coast</a>, in July 2018. In May 2020, the UK government approved a merger between the Northumberland and Tyne and Wear local authority pension funds. Tyne and Wear Pension Fund also manages the day-to-day administration of <a href=https://pro.preqin.com/investor/2269>Teesside Pension Fund</a>.
