About

South Yorkshire Pensions Authority (SYPA) is a public pension fund headquartered in Barnsley, UK. It is the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for local authority employees in South Yorkshire. SYPA operates as both a local authority and a pension fund, and is the only democratically accountable single-purpose pension organisation in the UK. In July 2015, the UK government announced that it would work with the Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS) to reform the way investments are managed. As part of the reform, the government ordered the 91 Local Government Pension Schemes to combine assets into large investment pools. South Yorkshire Pensions Authority started transitioning assets to the collective investment pool <a href=https://pro.preqin.com/investor/272393>Border to Coast</a> in July 2018.
