About

Republic Bank & Trust Company is a locally-owned community bank based in Kentucky, with 44 banking centers across four different states. The bank was formed in Louisville, Kentucky, by Bernard Trager. A year later it acquired the Republic Savings Bank based in Benton, Kentucky, and in 1994 the two banks merged with the Republic Bank of Shelby County, which had been established by Trager in 1977, under the Republic Bank & Trust Company name. The bank has since made a number of other acquisitions, including the Florida-based Gulf Stream Community Bank in 2006, and the Minnesota-based First Commercial Bank in 2012.
