Ramius Capital Group — overview

About

Peter Cohen and Jeffery Solomon founded Ramius Capital Group in 1994 as the global alternative investment management business of Cowen Group. It offered a broad range of investment solutions to institutions and private clients worldwide. In 2004, Ramius merged its fund of fund business with Bayerische Hypo-Vereinsbank (HVB) to create Ramius Fund of Funds Group (formerly Ramius HVB Partners). In September 2009, Ramius merged with the investment bank Cowen Group to form the joint entity - Cowen Group Fund of Funds. Despite the name change Cowen Group is majority-owned and led by Ramius founder, Peter Cohen.
