ProAssurance is the successor to Medical Assurance, Inc. in conjunction with its merger with Professionals Group, Inc. The insurance company is an insurer with expertise in healthcare professional liability, product liability for medical technology and life sciences, legal professional liability, and workers’ compensation insurance. ProAssurance writes medical professional liability through certain subsidiaries, ProAssurance Indemnity Company, Inc., ProAssurance Casualty Company, Podiatry Insurance Company of America, and ProAssurance Specialty Insurance Company. On November 30, 2010, ProAssurance Corporation acquired American Physicians Service Group, Inc. On May 5, 2021, ProAssurance completed the acquisition of Norcal Group.
