Polytechnic Institute of New York University (formerly Polytechnic University) was founded in 1854 as a private, coeducational institution, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering and technology, applied sciences, and management. The main campus is located in downtown Brooklyn but the university also has a graduate center in Melville, Long Island, a Westchester graduate center in Hawthorne, New York, and a management and technology center in downtown Manhattan.
