Pioneer Investments was part of Pioneer Global Asset Management (PGAM), the asset management sub-holding of UniCredito Italiano, Italy’s largest bank by market capitalisation. PGAM’s history dated back to 1928 and ws represented in 17 countries around the world. Pioneer Investments was formed in 1999 to take advantage of the increasing opportunities in the hedge fund world. After that the firm grew through both strategic acquisition and organic growth and built up a range of alternative investment products providing a one stop solution for investors with a variety of investment objectives. In Q4 2016, Amundi Alternative Investments announced its intention to acquire Pioneer Investments. The transaction closed in the first half of 2017.
