Oppenheimer is wholly owned by Oppenheimer Holdings, a financial services holding company established in 1881 and based in New York. OAIM provides investment opportunities in private equity and hedge fund strategies. These strategies include direct investments in companies as well as indirect investments in funds through funds-of-funds via primary fund commitments and secondary purchases. The firm focuses on making investments in the natural resources and energy sectors. In 2012, OAIM’s private equity fund-of-funds team spun out to form ROC Resources. ROC Resources managed Oppenheimer Private Equity Fund I, Oppenheimer Private Equity Co-Investment Fund, Oppenheimer Global Resource Private Equity Fund I, and Oppenheimer Drilling Partners until it ceased operations in 2013.
