About

Nova Scotia Pension Services Corporation was created by the Government of Nova Scotia to administer and actively manage the associated investments of several public pension plans. This includes Nova Scotia Teachers’ Pension Plan, Nova Scotia Public Service Superannuation Plan, MLA (Members of the Legislative Assembly) Pension Plan, and Nova Scotia Sydney Steel Corporation Superannuation Fund. Nova Scotia Teachers’ Pension Plan covers all licensed teachers and certain other employees in Nova Scotia’s public school system as well as the instructional staff of the Nova Scotia Community College. Nova Scotia Public Service Superannuation Plan covers those working in the public service sector, including employees of universities, community colleges, the health care field, and many public servants across government. Nova Scotia Sydney Steel Corporation Superannuation Fund has no active members contributing to it. It consists of pensioners who are former steelworkers and members of CUPE and salaried pension plans. This scheme's invested assets were completely depleted in October 2007 and therefore pension payments are funded by the Province.
