Founded in 1969 in Memphis, TN, Morgan Keegan & Co. is an investment firm offering full-service investment banking, securities brokerage, wealth and asset management. Morgan Keegan's private funds group specialised in direct and primary investment in private equity. The operations include growth capital transactions, private placements for public entities, recapitalisations of private companies, secondary placements of private stock and fund of funds management. In June 2009, Morgan Keegan becomes part of firm's investment banking practice, Spectrum Capital Group. As of September 2011, key personnel within Morgan Keegan’s private funds group had departed to mezzanine house, Tenth Street Capital. The private funds group had therefore ceased operations. As of April 2012, the firm operates as a subsidiary of Raymond James Financial, Inc.
