About

Minnesota Life Insurance Company provides financial security to individuals and families in the United States through insurance, investment, and retirement products. The insurance company is an affiliate of Securian Financial. Originally founded as Bankers Association of Minnesota, the firm reorganized in 1901 and adopted the name Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company. In 2001, the insurance company introduced the Securian brand, which acquired Allied Solutions in 2004 and acquired a majority stake in Asset Allocation & Management Company (AAM) in 2014. In 2017, the Securian brand expanded its operations in Canada by acquiring Canadian Premier Life Insurance Company and its affiliates, Legacy General Insurance Company, CRI Canada, and Selient. In 2019, it acquired a benefits administration and technology company Empyrean Benefit Solutions.
