HBD predominantly invests in early stage South African companies with high growth potential. HBD is part of the Shuttleworth Group, which means it was involved in Shuttleworth Foundation projects. HBD is managed by <a href=https://pro.preqin.com/investor/94176>Knife Capital</a> Knife Capital is a growth equity fund manager that focuses on high growth, high impact technology-enabled businesses from South Africa and other frontier economies across Sub-Saharan Africa. In March 2014, Africa Dawn (Afdawn) acquired Knife Capital to capacitate the group to execute its vision of investing in innovative entrepreneurial companies. Afdawn is an investment holding company which originally operated as a micro finance business but underwent a strategic change in 2013.
