GIC

GIC is a sovereign wealth fund based in Singapore. The institution is formerly known as the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, it operates as a global investment management company to manage Singapore's foreign reserves. It aims to achieve reasonable returns within acceptable risk limits over the longer term. GIC is one of Singapore's three investment entities responsible for overseeing the management of the country's reserves, in conjunction with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and Temasek. It is wholly owned by the Singapore government. The institution operates ten offices worldwide in Singapore, Beijing, Sydney, London, Mumbai, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Sao Paulo. In 2013, the sovereign wealth fund reorganized its investment holdings into two portfolios - Policy Portfolio and Active Portfolio - to better manage risks and returns amid increasing volatility in the global markets. It also changed its legal name from 'Government of Singapore Investment Corporation' to 'GIC', to formalize the widely used brand name of GIC in the global investment community and markets in which GIC operates.Read more ⏷
