About

Export Development Canada is a Canada-based government agency that was established as a financial institution devoted exclusively to providing trade finance services to support Canadian exporters and investors in markets, some of which are developing markets. EDC predominantly helps small and medium-sized Canadian enterprises to manage risk and capitalize on trade opportunities globally. As a Crown corporation, EDC operates at arm's length from the government and according to commercial principles. It has a mandate which is spelled out in the Export Development Act and, like most Crowns (government-owned corporations), falls under the Financial Administration Act.
