Development Bank of Japan (DBJ) is a Tokyo-based private equity and private debt firm that provides a wide range of investment, advisory, and financing products and services to its clients. Previously known as Japan Development Bank, it was subsequently reorganized into DBJ in 1999. In 2008, DBJ was reorganized again and privatized by the Japanese Parliament. The bank provides growth capital to local regional economies through funds managed by its subsidiaries, such as DBJ Regional Investments, Tohoku Fukko Partners, and SFG Partners. The firm invests in a wide range of industries, primarily in Japan. It also forms joint ventures with private companies to co-manage funds.
