Blue Orchid Capital was founded in 2003 by Peer Pedersen and Andrew Walter. Every year Blue Orchid donates a significant portion of its fund’s incentive fees to the Steamboat Foundation – a foundation set up by the fund of funds' founders to assist young people in finding summer internship positions. As of September 2019, the firm was in the process of liquidating their funds.
