Aware Super — overview

About

Aware Super is a superannuation scheme based in Australia. It provides retirement benefits for public sector employees and employers in Australia. It was known as First State Super, it has since grown into a public offer fund. First State Super merged with Health Super in June 2011, StatePlus in May 2016, and VicSuper in July 2020 with First State Super as the remaining entity. In September 2020, First State Super rebranded to Aware Super. In December 2020, Aware Super completed its merger with WA Super. In December 2021 Aware Super completed its merger with the Victorian Independent Schools Superannuation Fund. In October 2025, TelstraSuper and Aware Super have signed a binding heads of agreement. The Funds will continue to operate separately until the merger is executed via a successor fund transfer, expected towards the end of the 2025/2026 financial year.
