About

Alternative Investment Capital (AIC), also known as A.I. Capital, is a Tokyo-based asset manager specializing in alternative investments. It offers investment management and advisory services to Japanese institutional investors, including banks, insurance companies, and pension funds. AIC was established as a joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation, Daido Life Insurance Company, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking. In November 2020, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation acquired 19.9% of shares in AIC from Mitsubishi Corporation, thus increasing its shareholdings to 60%. Due to the change in its ownership structure, AIC currently operates as a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, while Daido Life Insurance Company and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking remain as its shareholders, respectively holding 36% and 4% of its shares.
