Tower Capital Management was a South Africa-based hedge fund manager that was founded in 2009. The firm runs an equity long/short strategy consisting of two funds that trade pari-passu: ZAR domestic fund and a USD offshore Cayman Islands-domiciled master-feeder. With a private equity background, the portfolio manager's focus was on under-researched mid-cap space as a source of alpha. It traded very liquid stocks on an over-regulated exchange, focused outside of South Africa's on Sub-Saharan and African growth. Together it manages a concentrated high conviction portfolio, actively trading around core positions. The sub-strategy considered 4 baskets: fundamental long, fundamental short, short hedge, and opportunistic trading. It considered itself an African fund.
