Tiger Veda Management

Tiger Veda was a global long/short equity hedge fund managed by Manish Chopra and seeded by Julian Robertson. The fund was launched in May 2005. Prior to launching his own firm almost 10 years ago, Manish worked directly for Julian Robertson at Tiger Management and before that for Lee Cooperman at Omega Advisors. The investment team utilized a thematic approach to global investing and conducts rigorous fundamental, bottom-up research to evaluate ideas. Ideas were generated by looking for unloved, under-researched, idiosyncratic and misunderstood names in less competitive markets, sectors and regions. When constructing the portfolio, Manish choose a select group of names in sectors and industries that were well known. Typically, the top ten long positions comprised 60% of the fund’s capital. On the short side of the portfolio, Manish attempted to generate “alpha” with a smaller number of individual positions. Gross exposure was typically 75-150% while net exposure was around 25-75%. Historically, Tiger Veda had about 45% of the portfolio invested outside of the United States. Tiger Veda Management was liquidated in Q4 2015.Read more ⏷
