Sofipa SGR

In 1982 Mediocredito Centrale established Sofipa SpA, as the investment arm of the Italian merchant bank. In 2001, Sofipa S.p.A. discontinued its merchant banking activity to become MCC – Sofipa SGR S.p.A. the management company of newly raised closed-end investment funds. By 2004 MCC-Sofipa SGR was managing 2 twin closed-end funds, SEF & SEF II, for a total commitment of €305 mln. In 2006 MCC-Sofipa SGR SpA passed under the direct control of Capitalia S.p.A. and changed its name to CAPITALIA Sofipa SGR SpA. In 2007, following the merger of Capitalia and UniCredit, Capitalia Sofipa SGR SpA became directly controlled by UniCredit S.p.A. and changed its name back to Sofipa SGR SpA. In 2010 Sofipa SGR SpA merged with S+R Investimenti e Gestioni SGR SpA (100% owned by UniCredit Corporate Banking SpA), the management company of the closed-end fund Rolo Impresa. On 30th July 2013, Sofipa SGR S.p.A. and its controlling company Synergo 2 S.p.A. merged into Synergo SGR S.p.A.. Sofipa's private equity funds are now managed under the name of Synergo SGR. The firm target investment opportunities primarly in Italy, in all sectors except real estate, banking and insurance.Read more ⏷
