In July 2006, Prelude Ventures and Cazenove Private Equity merged to form Esprit Capital Partners. In August 2007, Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) acquired a strategic stake and rebranded to DFJ Esprit. Prelude is an independent venture capital company specialising in investments in seed, start-up and early stage businesses on the leading edge of new developments in the physical and life sciences and other technologies. Prelude invests in teams that can take proprietary technology and with the capital and support provided, build companies that become leaders in major world markets. Prelude invests in sectors that include information technology, communications, advanced materials, sensors and semiconductors. Life science investments include healthcare, drug discovery and medical devices companies.
