One William Street Capital Management (OWS) is a New York-based hedge fund manager with more than 80 employees. Founded by David Sherr, OWS commenced its operations in Q2 of 2008. The firm primarily focuses on actively managed portfolios of asset-based credit opportunities, including residential mortgage-backed securities, performing and non-performing residential mortgage loans, commercial mortgage-backed securities, commercial real estate loans, multiple consumer and commercial asset-backed securities, collateralized debt obligations, and direct lending. It provides commercial mortgage loan origination, underwriting, and asset management through its wholly-owned subsidiaries. These mortgage banking subsidiaries operate as standalone businesses branded as Bedrock Capital Associates. The firm registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment adviser in June 2009 and with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a commodity pool operator in January 2013. Its strategy aims to take long/short positions for fundamental credit and relative value investments and more event driven investments in more complex areas of the credit market. Additionally, long positions are taken in loan opportunities in residential whole loans, consumer credit, and commercial real estate loans.
