Midwood Capital Management

Established in Q1 2003, Midwood Capital Management was a Boston-based hedge fund manager, that focused primarily on long/short equity hedge fund strategies. The firm invested in small- and micro-cap US companies and employed private equity style due diligence and a bottom-up strategy to identify long investments with strong business models and management teams. On the short side, the managers looked for deteriorating businesses in challenging industries with clear negative catalysts that precipitate stock price declines. It was formed in December 2003 by David Cohen and Ross DeMont, who previously worked together at Igoe Capital Partners. The pair also had experience from GCC Investments, J.P. Morgan, and Lehman Brothers. Effective January 2017, Midwood Capital Associates; Midwood Capital Management; David Cohen and Balter Capital Management entered into an agreement whereby the latter owned a 20% membership interest in Midwood Capital Associates and Midwood Capital Management.Read more ⏷
