Matarin Capital Management (Matarin) was a 100% employee-owned investment firm that managed an equity market neutral long/short strategy and US long only small cap, large cap and micro cap equity strategies, all based on the same core investment process. Matarin offered a combination of fundamental and quantitative investing. The firm utilized a proprietary process which recognized that inefficiencies can arise in the markets due to investor behavioral biases. It sought to identify great fundamental ideas about what drives stock returns in the long run, and apply them in a consistent and unbiased way in order to take advantage of intermediate-term dislocations as they arose.
