Margate Capital Management ("Margate") was a multi-sector equity long/short alternative asset manager, founded in April 2016 by Samantha Greenberg, a former partner at Paulson & Co. and veteran of Goldman Sachs’ Special Situations Group. The firm pursued a thematic, catalyst-focused, fundamental long/short equity strategy, focused on the media, technology, communications, consumer discretionary and consumer staples sectors. In April 2016, the firm entered into a strategic partnership with Ramius, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Cowen Group, whereby Ramius had agreed to provide seed capital and infrastructure support to Margate. Margate launched the Margate Capital Partners Fund in October 2016, which was a master feeder structure comprised of Margate Capital Partners Master Fund, a Cayman Islands-domiciled fund, Margate Capital Partners Fund, a Delaware-domiciled fund and Margate Capital Partners Fund, a Cayman Islands-domiciled vehicle. In Q1 of 2019 it was announced that founder Samantha Green would be shutting down the firm and joining Asher Capital, a unit of Citadel, within the same quarter.
