JC Clark is a Toronto-based hedge fund manager that manages long/short equity portfolios for high net worth individuals, families, institutional investors, and foundations. The firm aims to preserve capital, attain risk-adjusted absolute returns, and maintain low correlations to the broad equity market indices. The firm was founded by John Clark, who previously founded the investment management firm Connor Clark & Co. in 1997. After the sale of Connor Clark & Co. to Royal Bank of Canada in April 1999, Preservation Trust, a long/short equity fund, was launched by Connor Clark as a member of RBC Financial Group. In February 2001, John Clark and Colin Stewart left RBC Financial Group and founded JC Clark to expand their fund and business. John Clark retired from the firm in February 2011, while Colin Stewart continues as the CEO.
