Founded in Q1 2017, Inferent Capital (Inferent) was a New York-based quantitative asset hedge fund management firm. Inferent used advanced applications of machine learning and data science to extract non-linear relationships from a wide variety of financial data. Key principals in the firm held advanced degrees in physics and computer science, and the team applies an engineering mindset to investment and risk management. The firm's systematic approach combines financial expertise, carefully curated data, along with powerful computing platforms to extract unique sources of alpha. People & technology working together are at the core of the firm's business. Machine learning, artificial intelligence, distributed computing, and other technologies are tools that were used to find connections in the world. It is led by Dr. Jose Marques who holds a Ph.D. in high energy physics and has >20 years of experience in statistical arbitrage/quantitative trading. Most recently, he was the head of trading at Bridgewater Associates, where he was responsible for global trading & trading technology across all products and asset classes.
